Good morning Otters!
As finals are wrapping up, a lot of us are looking at a (hopefully) relaxing summer. Some of us, South’s United Student Association Officers included, are looking at graduation. As a final goodbye to the student body (before United Student Association’s 2023-24 term Officers take over), we decided to make this last edition a collaboration of our different officer’s creativity.
As always, you will find resources listed at the bottom of this page.
Thank you for an eventful year!
Your Communications Officer, Ashwak Samatar.

Communications Officer - Ashwak Samatar:
As Communications Officer of the 2022-23 school year, I have been able to express my creativity and advocate for causes I feel strongly about. The student newsletter has created a space I hope to one day see become full of diversity, energy, and safety. It’s important to note that we are coming back from an isolating, devastating pandemic. And in a time of like this, I’m glad I was able to contribute to the community that’s beginning to flourish again at South Seattle College. Thank you for letting me be your voice. And thank you for a year of fun! Here are some pictures I feel captured this year’s festivities well *courtesy of the ssccunitedstudentassociation Instagram page:

Never Give Up !
Hello otters,
I’m coming today for you who face many challenges or encounters difficulties that seem never ending. I assure you keep calm and not giving up. You have to be confident and develop discipline because discipline is the key of life. You can fail today, but it is not that failure which could limit your dream. Fall behind is essential because it gives us the opportunity to correct our past mistakes and prepare a future full of success. I encourage you to not giving up whatever the situation you are facing, and keep moving on.
Luckson Lukau, USA Treasurer Officer.

I’ve greatly enjoyed my time as part of student government this past year. I have made friends with my fellow officers and we have worked as a ten to best represent the student body. We have worked to increase student involvement and campus presence as we come out of quarantine. I look forward to seeing what next year’s student government team accomplishes.

As the Issues and Concerns Officer for the 2022-2023 school year, I am honored to announce that I have greatly enjoyed my time working to address the issues and concerns of all the otters on campus. It has been a privilege to collaborate with my amazing fellow officers in bringing about positive change around campus. From my shifts at the food pantry to answering survey questions and even hosting South Seattle College's first-ever cultural gala, I have truly cherished the opportunity to work alongside all of you.
